Meet The Owners

Dan and Ann Cavanaugh are 3rd generation owners of SmithBates Printing and Design. Dan joined the family business in 1977 after graduating from Oregon State University with a degree in business management. Working side by side with his father, he grew with the company starting in the bindery department, then working in the office and becoming a partner. Upon the retirement of Dan's father, Barney Cavanaugh, Ann became involved in the business. She has a B.S. degree from University of Maine and an MBA from Portland State University.

As the Klamath region grew and changed, so did SmithBates under Dan and Ann's leadership. The company, like the town, continually redefines itself and diversifies its base. From lumber to agriculture to manufacturing to high tech and service businesses, SmithBates has grown and developed into a strong printing and design company that is positioned to meet the needs of businesses in the Klamath basin and throughout the region.

For three generations, the family has strongly believed in giving back to the community. Dan and Ann continue that practice today. They are committed to helping local non-profits, the arts and community projects by giving discounted printing services as well as more than $40,000 in cash and in-kind grant donations annually.
